Black Friday and Cyber Monday handmade gifts deals 2026

Handmade does not go on sale the way electronics do, and the reason is structural. Here is what historically moves on price, what does not, and what to do about it in September.

We earn a commission when you buy through our Amazon links, at no extra cost to you. It never changes the order of the picks, and we say so when the cheaper thing is the better buy. How this works.

Every pick below is on Amazon Handmade unless the card says otherwise, and every price is the live one. If you want the rules we apply before anything gets listed, they are on how we pick.

The one we would not buy

Waiting for a Black Friday discount on anything personalized or made to order

Even if a made-to-order maker discounts, the discount arrives after the point at which their queue can still deliver for December. Engraving and made-to-order work is done by one person with one machine, and every maker in the category is running the same backlog in the same fortnight. Ordering a personalized board on Cyber Monday to save a little is how it arrives in January. If it is personalized, the price it is today is the price to pay.

Colorado End Grain Cutting Board
Amazon HandmadeTop pick: boards

Colorado End Grain Cutting Board

by Independent maker

For the cook who actually chops — buy now, end grain from a small shop rarely moves. A true end grain block from a Handmade storefront, at the price where end grain starts.

End grain constructionHardwood

End grain means the wood fibers stand vertically, so the knife edge slots between them instead of scraping across them. Two things follow: the board is kinder to your knives, and the cut marks close up rather than staying as scars. It is also heavier and more expensive to make, which is why edge grain dominates the shelves. This is the entry point to the real thing.

Worth knowing first

End grain boards are thick and heavy by design. If they wash up in a small sink, measure first.

Tommy Lion Alpaca Wool Blanket, Blue
Amazon HandmadeTop pick: blankets

Tommy Lion Alpaca Wool Blanket, Blue

by Tommy Lion

For the person who is always cold — buy now, small-maker textiles sell out rather than discount. Alpaca at bed size — warmer than wool for the weight, and it does not itch.

Alpaca wool90 x 80 in (queen)HandmadeBlue

Alpaca fiber is hollow, which is why it insulates better than sheep's wool at a lower weight, and it has no lanolin, which is why people who react to wool usually do not react to it. At 90 x 80 inches this is a real bed blanket rather than a throw, and that size is what makes it a serious gift. It is a three-figure gift and the piece on this page most likely to still be in use in twenty years.

Worth knowing first

Hand wash or dry clean. Putting alpaca through a hot machine cycle is how a three-figure blanket becomes a doll's blanket.

Craft & Lore Port Wallet

Craft & Lore Port Wallet

by Craft and Lore

For the pocket upgrade — buy now, boutique leather holds its price. A single folded piece of thick leather with almost no stitching, which is why it lasts.

Full grain leatherMinimal card walletMade in USA

Most slim wallets are slim because they use thin leather. This one is slim because it is one heavy piece folded rather than several thin pieces sewn together, so there is very little to come apart. It starts stiff and unwelcoming and takes a month to break in, which is the correct trade for something meant to outlive three phones. If the person you are buying for has a wallet held together by a rubber band, this is the upgrade.

Worth knowing first

It holds about four to six cards and folded bills. It is not a wallet for coins, receipts or a checkbook.

Hand-Thrown Pottery Mug in Shale

by North Carolina pottery

For the daily object — buy now, wheel-thrown pottery is priced by the hour. Thrown on a wheel in North Carolina, and the throwing rings are still visible.

Wheel-thrownStonewareMade in North Carolina

A wheel-thrown mug is asymmetric in the way a hand is asymmetric: the walls vary slightly in thickness, the handle is pulled rather than molded, and you can feel the rings under your fingers. That is the whole difference between this and a mug from a supermarket, and it is the difference people notice every single morning. Shale is a muted gray-brown glaze that goes with everything.

Little Bee of Connecticut Hand-Rolled Beeswax Tapers, 11 in
Amazon HandmadeTop pick: beeswax

Little Bee of Connecticut Hand-Rolled Beeswax Tapers, 11 in

by Little Bee of Connecticut

For the table — buy now, hand-rolled beeswax has no margin to cut. Rolled from sheet wax by a Connecticut maker, so the honey smell is the wax itself.

11 in tapersPairHand-rolled beeswax9-10 hr stated burn each

Hand-rolled beeswax is the cheapest way to put a genuinely handmade object on a table, and a pair for about twenty dollars does not feel like a token. There is no fragrance oil in it. What you smell is the wax, which is why beeswax candles smell faintly of honey and paraffin candles smell of whatever was added to them. The listing states nine to ten hours per taper, so a pair burns through a long dinner with room to spare.

Worth knowing first

Tapers need a holder that grips. Beeswax is softer than paraffin and will lean in a loose socket on a warm table.

Bottled Up Designs Vintage Lace Leverback Earrings
Amazon HandmadeTop pick: sterling

Bottled Up Designs Vintage Lace Leverback Earrings

by Bottled Up Designs

For all-day earrings — buy now, hand-fabricated sterling does not run event pricing. Sterling leverbacks with a lace-patterned drop, made in the USA from reclaimed material.

Sterling silverLeverback closureMade in USA

Leverbacks are the detail that matters here: they latch closed, so they do not fall out and disappear the way a hook does. That makes them the right choice for someone who actually wears earrings all day rather than for an evening. The lace pattern is stamped rather than cast, so each pair varies slightly. Sterling, so no reaction for most people with sensitive ears.

WoodWick Fireside Hourglass Candle
Factory-madeWatch in November: factory candle

WoodWick Fireside Hourglass Candle

by WoodWick

For the loudest crackle — a mass-market brand with a documented history of holiday promotions. The mass-market original, and still the strongest crackle of anything here.

9.7 ozHourglass jarCrackling wickSoy blend

We are including a factory candle in a handmade roundup and labeling it plainly, because on the single axis most wood-wick buyers care about it wins. The wick is wider than the small-maker versions, so the crackle is louder and more constant. Fireside is a smoke-and-wood scent rather than a food one. If the person you are buying for has said they want the crackling candle, this is what they mean.

Worth knowing first

Mass-produced and sold everywhere. It carries no maker story at all, which for some recipients is the whole problem.

John Boos CB Series Reversible Maple Block, 20 x 15 in
Factory-madeWatch in November: factory board

John Boos CB Series Reversible Maple Block, 20 x 15 in

by John Boos

For a serious working block — a production brand sold through many retailers, where event pricing is possible. Twelve pounds of reversible maple at 1.5 in thick, and it will outlive the kitchen.

20 x 15 in1.5 in thick12 lbReversible mapleJuice groove one side

This is a working butcher block rather than a gift object: heavy enough that it does not move while you chop, thick enough to be resurfaced repeatedly, and reversible so one face can stay for raw meat. Nobody gives this as a romantic gesture. Give it to someone who has complained about their board.

Worth knowing first

Factory-made, heavy, and it needs permanent counter space. Measure before buying.

How this page works, and what it will not do

Every product card on this site shows the live Amazon price, dated. When a seller marks an item down, the card shows the list price struck through and the percentage off, and that number comes from the price data rather than from us. That is the only way a deal will ever appear on this page: as a live, dated price on a card, never as a claim in the text.

So what this page does in September is narrower and more useful than a deals list. It explains which classes of handmade gift historically move on price in late November and which do not, so you can decide what to buy now and what to wait on — and it lists the site's current top picks so that when a price does move, you see it here.

Why handmade rarely goes on sale, structurally

A factory-made candle or board has a wholesale price, a retail price, and a margin between them wide enough that a retailer can take a third off for a weekend and still make money. A hand-rolled beeswax taper, a wheel-thrown mug or a hand-stitched wallet has a materials cost and a labor cost, and the price is close to the sum of the two. There is no margin to give away; a real discount comes straight out of the maker's hourly rate.

On Amazon specifically, the official event deals carry a fee on top of the discount. Amazon's published terms for the 2025 Black Friday and Cyber Monday event listed Best Deals at a minimum 15% discount for a $1,000 flat fee per deal, Lightning Deals at a minimum 20% discount for $500 per deal, and Prime Exclusive Discounts at a minimum 15% for $245 — with deal submissions due by late October. Those are the terms a large brand budgets for. For a single-person workshop selling a thirty-dollar object, they are the reason you will almost never see a genuinely handmade item in the headline deals event, and the reason the small-maker discounts that do exist tend to be a coupon or a modest shop-wide markdown rather than an event listing.

The comparison that makes this concrete: Etsy's Black Friday is not one sale but thousands of individual shop sales, staggered from mid-November, at whatever depth each seller chooses — and custom and personalized items are typically excluded and final sale. Amazon Handmade sellers face the same economics with a steeper fee structure on the official events. Amazon has run a dedicated Handmade Black Friday and Cyber Monday storefront in past years, which is where any maker who does participate will be surfaced.

What historically discounts, and what does not

Product classLate-November behaviorWhat it means for you
Mass-market candles (WoodWick, Yankee and similar)Documented deep holiday promotions — in 2024 the WoodWick and Yankee Candle brands ran a buy-two-get-three-free offer on Thanksgiving and Black FridayIf you want the factory crackle, waiting is rational. Watch the card.
Production boards from national brands (John Boos and similar)Sold through many retailers, so seasonal event pricing is possible and varies by retailerReasonable to wait if you are buying the brand. Watch the card; do not assume.
Batch-made handmade — soap, rolled beeswax, glycerin, poured soy from small makersOccasional shop coupons or modest markdowns; rarely event dealsBuy when you need it. A small coupon does not justify missing a maker's cutoff.
Wheel-thrown pottery, hand-fabricated sterling, full-grain leather from boutique makersPriced by the hour; little or no discounting observed as a patternBuy now. The risk is sell-out, not overpaying.
Personalized or made-to-order anythingExcluded from most discounting and final sale; queue is the constraintBuy now, before the November backlog. See the skip call above.
Alpaca, handwoven and hand-crocheted textilesSingle-maker inventory; sells out rather than discountsBuy now if the colorway matters. Gray restocks; the unusual colors do not.

Two honesty notes on that table. First, the two documented rows are the factory brands, because those are the only ones with public promotional history we could verify; the handmade rows describe the structural pattern explained above, not a measured dataset of past Handmade deals, and we are not going to invent one. Second, none of this predicts what any listing will do in November 2026. The cards do that, live.

Buy now versus wait, by product class

Buy now

Reasonable to wait

  • Factory-made items we list and label as such. The mass-market wood-wick candle and the production maple block on the cutting boards page are there because on one axis each is the better buy. They are also the only two things on this page with a documented or plausible promotional history. Watch the cards from the third week of November.
  • Board conditioner and candle-care tools. Factory accessories, cheap, and stocked in depth. Nothing is lost by waiting, and they ship in two days when you need them.

Wait, but for a different reason

The last-minute handmade gifts guide lists the categories that reliably ship inside two days in December. If you know you will be late, those are the classes where waiting costs nothing. For everything else, the calendar is the constraint and the discount is not.

How to check a deal when one appears

  1. Read the provenance chip on the card first. A discount on a factory item does not make it handmade, and we label both.
  2. Look at the struck-through list price. It comes from the live data, and if it is absent the item is at its normal price whatever the listing headline says.
  3. Check the date stamp. Prices older than two days are removed from the site rather than shown; if you see a number, it is current.
  4. For anything personalized, ignore the discount and check the lead time. Spotting resold mass production covers the other checks worth two minutes.

Where the deals will be posted

Here, on this page, when they exist — with the live price on the card and the date it was checked. We will not post a deal from memory, from a press release, or from a listing headline the price data does not confirm. If you are reading this before the third week of November, the honest answer is that the picks above are at their normal prices, most of them will stay there, and the ones that will not are labeled.

In the meantime the gift guides are the better use of the time: gifts for your husband, for your wife, for a couple, Secret Santa, and by budget at under $50, under $100 and under $150. If the exchange is a white elephant rather than a draw — anonymous gifts stolen from a pile instead of bought for a name — white elephant gifts inverts half of this advice.

Questions people actually ask

Does Amazon Handmade have Black Friday deals?
Some sellers participate, and Amazon has run a Handmade Black Friday and Cyber Monday storefront in past years. But official event deals carry a flat fee per deal on top of a minimum discount, which single-person workshops rarely absorb, so genuinely handmade items are uncommon in the headline events. Any real markdown shows on the card here as a struck list price.
Should I wait for Black Friday to buy a handmade gift?
Not for anything personalized, made to order, or from a single maker with limited stock — the queue and the sell-out are the constraints, not the price. Waiting is reasonable only for the factory-made items we list and label, which have a documented history of holiday promotions.
What handmade gift categories historically discount?
Batch-made goods — soap, poured soy, rolled beeswax — occasionally carry a shop coupon. Wheel-thrown pottery, hand-fabricated sterling and boutique full-grain leather rarely move, because they are priced by the hour. The deep holiday discounts are a mass-market pattern.
When will deals be posted on this page?
When they actually exist, in the third week of November onward, and only as live dated prices on the product cards. Nothing here predicts a discount or states one the price data has not produced.
Are the prices on this page current?
Yes. Every number is the live Amazon price with a date stamp. When the data is more than two days old, the number is removed rather than shown stale.
